The Ministry of Altar Serving is open to men, women, boys and girls (4th grade and up). The main role of an Altar Server is to assist the Priest and Deacon in the celebration of the liturgy. The training video can be viewed on our website.

BAPTISM PREPARATION
To properly prepare for the sacrament of Baptism, parents are asked to attend a baptismal preparation class. A Volunteer is needed to assist the leader. We have 6 Baptism prep classes held every other month on thursday.

BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE
The Building and Grounds Committee assists in advising the pastor in the prioritization of projects related to maintenance of our current facilities and grounds, in addition to updates and additions to our campus. The committee members inform the pastor and business administrator on possible courses of action when considering contracts, and reviews solicitations for bids on projects. The committee is not responsible for doing the facility and grounds updates, however most members volunteer when possible to help with routine activities such as the spring and fall parish clean up. The time commitment for this committee varies based on the level of involvement from its members. Some members serve in an advisory role only, and other will offer their time and talent to lead full projects. The amount of time a member can offer is entirely up to them. The committee meets every other month unless a special project dictates more frequent meetings.

CANTOR
The cantor is a singer who leads, supports, and encourages the assembly’s sung participation in the liturgy. Most importantly they serve as a psalmist by leading and proclaiming the verses of the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation. They also support the congregation in the singing of the Mass responses, and encourage the assembly in the singing of all other songs or chants as both a singer and a participant in the Mass.

CARD MINISTRY
This ministry was formed in 2011 and is comprised of members of St. Bernadette that create handmade greeting cards for parishioners and family members for various events and other needs including anniversaries, get well, sympathy, Baptisms, Confirmation, First communion and graduation. They also work with a list of homebound parishioners that receive monthly thinking of you cards and birthday greetings, all total averaging 100 cards mailed per month. They welcome any help to their ministry, whether it be creating cards, assisting in addressing envelopes or donating much needed postage, envelopes, cardstock or other supplies. You can also request a handmade card be mailed to someone via the request forms at the Card Ministry Box located in the narthex.

CARE MINISTRY
The Care Ministry program at St. Bernadette serves to follow in Jesus’ footsteps as he cared for the sick, lonely and suffering. Care Ministers are specially trained individuals who visit people who are homebound, in nursing homes, lonely or experiencing a difficult time such as the loss of a loved one or an illness. They will bring the loving present of Jesus through care, compassionate listening, prayer and Communion if desired. The nature and frequency of visits is determined by mutual agreement.

CATHOLIC RESOURCES LIBRARY
The Library contains multimedia and literature on many valuable subjects, Besides books, the Catholic Resource Library houses books on tape, books on CD’s, videos and music CD’s. Volunteers are needed to help catalog the materials.

CHOIR
Resurrection (Funeral) Choir (Mary Kinderman or Pat Vander Wielen)
This choir ministers at funeral liturgies. Rehearsals are usually one half hour before the funeral and liturgies are usually held M-Sat. at 11:00, but on occasion may be held at other times as well. Individuals with a love of singing, desire to serve, and a flexible schedule are encouraged to join.
Seraphim Choir (Pat Vander Wielen)
This traditional choir leads the community in singing praise . Rehearsals are at 6:30pm on Wednesdays.
Renewed Spirits Choir (Lydia Jansen)
The emphasis of this choir is contemporary liturgical music. Rehearsals are at 6:30pm on Thursdays.

CHURCH CLEANING
Volunteers assist in cleaning the church for 1.5 to 2 hours on a monthly basis during the weekday mornings, afternoons, and Thursdays evenings. Keep our church beautiful.

FALL/SPRING CLEAN UP DAY - PARISH GROUNDS
Spring clean up is usually late April-mid May and Fall clean mid October - early November for parish buildings and grounds involves planting, weeding, pruning, painting, repairing, or moving items on grounds and within buildings. Bring your gloves, kneeling pads, rakes and garden tools.

COMMUNION TO THE HOMEBOUND

ENVIRONMENT
The Church Environment Team develops and plans for the major liturgical seasons with “noble simplicity” in mind. Goal is for the church environment to reinforce, communicate, and glorify God as we celebrate each liturgical season. EXTRAORDINARY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Many parishioners are involved in this ministry of distributing the Sacred Bread. Training takes less than 15 minutes and you decide when you would like to be scheduled. EEMs are serving once or twice a month currently. You are already at church, why not become more involved in the celebration. Those who have been confirmed are invited to become a Eucharstic Minister.

EVANGELIZATION MINISTRY
Don’t let the word “Evangelization” stop you from reading on. While some may associate the word evangelization with individuals who show up at your door with a Bible and want to convert you to a particular religion, evangelization is really about sharing the Good News of Jesus with the people we meet on a daily basis through our words and actions. Evangelization can be as simple as opening a door for someone with a smile. The goal of the Evangelization Ministry is to create opportunities to learn and deepen our faith.

FAITH FORMATION
Catechists are an important part of the Faith Formation. They help with teaching the youth of St. Bernadette to grow closer to the Lord and learn about our Catholic faith. Being a catechist consists of being present on Wednesdays form 5:45 - 7:30, Virtus trained, keeping up with training and background checks. Must be virtus trained and background checked.
HALL and PARKING LOT MONITOR (WEDNESDAY EVENINGS ONLY)
This position is important to the safety of the Faith Formation students and parents. The time frame is 5:45-7:30 pm monitoring as students come in from the parking lot, let in any students that are late, and lock/unlock doors when needed. Must be virtus trained and background checked.
LITURGY OF THE WORD WITH CHILDREN
Liturgy of the Word with Children offers children, ages 4 up until 2nd grade, the opportunity to hear the readings in language they can understand and to participate in an activity that helps them relate the stories to their lives. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children, especially if their child is timid at first. Volunteers share the readings and lead the children in a related activity. Leaders are given a simple program to follow. Must be virtus trained and background checked.
YOUTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEER
We are looking for volunteers to be on a core team for youth ministry. The youth ministry core team would include helping plan Youth Ministry events, being present at events, help plan and lead the events. Must be virtus trained and background checked.

FINANCE COUNCIL
This council helps our parish provide financial stewardship of all the activities and ministries we support. Members use their business experience, knowledge of the parish and its people and the religious ideals of the Church to help the pastoral staff make sound financial and business decisions. The team meets approx. 10 times a year to review financial statements, approve budgets and financial priorities and generally provide parish input as an advisory group to the Pastor.

FUNERAL LUNCHEONS
Funeral Luncheons consist of a group of volunteers who offer luncheons for families after funerals held at St. Bernadette Parish. The Luncheons are served in the Lady of Lourdes Fellowship Hall immediately following the funeral Mass. The food is catered by a restaurant and served by the volunteer luncheon team.

This Ministry is open to men and women, It is to help assist people at our funerals. Making sure everything we need to do from our end is set up and ready. Handing out missalettes to the people attending the Funeral, be there to answer any questions and help direct them to the Lady of Lourdes Fellowship Hall if there is a luncheon being held there.

HUMAN CONCERNS COMMITTEE
The purpose of this committee is to assist the parish in responding to Jesus’ command to love our neighbor by addressing social justice issues and the needs of all people. This committee meets once a month from September to May to discuss possible activities for the parish and the community.

An instrumentalist can provide musical leadership to the assembly, accompaniment to the singers and congregation, as well as embellishments to the music by adding harmony. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The St Bernadette Prayer Shawl Ministry began in 2007. Since then, they have given 2,636 Prayer Shawls, Bridal Shawls & Baptismal Blankets. A Bridal Shawl is given to each Bride getting married in our parish. A Baptismal Blanket is given to each Baby being Baptized in our parish. Prayer Shawls are given to many others for life changing events both happy and sad. They welcome requests for any purpose. They get requests for shawls for students going to college, retirements, special birthdays or anniversaries, as well as those in need of comfort in their lives such as those dealing with illness, death of a loved one or any difficult challenge in life. They meet in the Disciples Room twice each month on Thursday afternoons. They pray for those who will get a shawl that they are making and those that have already gotten one. They visit, snack and work on their knitting or crocheting. They’d be happy to have you join them. RESPECT LIFE
This group strives to promote and uphold the protection and sanctity of all human life by providing education, programs, prayer, and outreach. ST. BERNADETTE SAFETY COMMITTEE
Volunteers are needed to create and implement safety procedures around the St. Bernadette campus. The committee meets every other month when a project is being worked on. Additionally, the committee hosts an annual tabletop exercise to review our current safety plans to ensure they are current and compliant with the guidance from the Green Bay Diocese. The time commitment for this committee is minimal. Most members will share 1-3 hours per month.

ST. VINCENT DEPAUL SOCIETY
St. Vincent dePaul Society is an organization that provides hope and financial resources to our neighbors in need through personal encounters. We assist these neighbors either by phone or by going two-by-two to the homes of the needy, who have applied for our services. There are also opportunities throughout the year for help with other special projects, such as our recent "Christmas in July" campaign or helping at the actual Christmas party for our neighbors in need that will take place in December.

We help support the parish's technology needs including internet, computer support and networking. Our group meets as needed to discuss the merits of technology proposals and assist with the installation of new technologies.

USHERS
Ushers help create an atmosphere of hospitality through their words and actions, welcoming parishioners and visitors as they gather for worship and helping guests locate seats and other areas of our church. They assist with the Offertory, the Communion procession and distribute bulletins and other materials. This ministry is open to all, if you like helping people, this is the ministry for you.

The Welcome Desk is staffed by one Ambassador at the end of each Mass. The Ambassador is available to answer questions or provide informational or welcome materials to current or potential parishioners.
